Catalog Course Description: Fundamentals of protective relaying. Relay input sources. Gen-
eration, transmission and distribution systems protection. Stability and load shedding.

- Calculate performance of current and voltage transformers.
- Describe and analyze fundamental protection schemes: overcurrent and distance.
- Design, evaluate and compare bus protection architectures.

- Describe methods to protect machines of different saliency within the system.
- Describe load shedding mechanisms and their impact in power system stability.
